Don't Be Afraid To Give Away Your Album

| | Comments () | TrackBacks (0)

It amazes us when we hear from the blogs that some people still ask for sites to take their music down.  Are you serious? How many people do you know that actually buy music from new, unsigned bands that most people have never heard of? Very, very, very few. So why let the possibility of a few measly dollars get in the way of more people hearing your music?  Music is one of the most prevalent things on planet earth and it's becoming increasingly more difficult to make people care, no matter how good your music.

One way to stick out from the 10 zillion other bands is to give away your entire album for free. Not only does it make a good press story, but people are much more likely to give it a try. Songs are so disposable, but even the word "album" makes people feel like they are getting something composed and of value. Many huge sites like NoData.tv specialize in giving away full album releases and this can be a chance for a lot of new people to hear your music. Especially after you are done with promoting your singles, why not forget about the measly 13 dollars you're gonna make on iTunes and focus on getting your music out to the torrents and similar sites?
